The Bryan Museum has collaborated with iWRITE Literacy Organization to incorporate fun and interesting literacy activities into the way we teach Texas history.
The partnership created a program that encourages students to think for themselves and develop their creative writing skills.
Campers received creative writing instruction from children's author Melissa Williams and combined that with exciting activities from the Museum's history experts, creating their own fictional short stories.
At the end of the sessions, each student read a portion of their final project and each submitted the finished piece for publication in iWRITE's annual anthology. Five History Camp writers have been accepted for this year's anthology, and one camper's story was selected for iWRITE's Editor's Choice Award.
