History Camp at The Bryan Museum

Hosted by The Bryan Museum and the iWRITE Literacy Organization, History Camp at The Bryan Museum is a five-day historical fiction-writing camp for incoming 4th-6th grade students.

Our campers will experience hands-on inspiration from the Wild West and Texas history. Each day they will receive creative writing instruction from children's author Melissa Williams, combined with exciting activities from the Museum's history experts, which they will use to create their own fictional short stories. Campers will even have a chance to enter their stories for publication in the I Write Short Stories by Kids for Kids Writing Contest presented by iWRITE!

Takeaways for campers include:
  • Learning how to create their own historical fictional characters
  • Learning how to create a comic book
  • Participating in daily hands-on brainstorming activities
  • Experiencing the Wild West
  • Meeting "i" The Guy!
  • Learning how to throw a rope and ride in a saddle

For needs-based scholarship opportunities or for information on how you or your business can sponsor a camper, please call Mary Lou Hollender at (409) 220‑3223 or email her.
